Your New Role
In your new role you will be managing and ensuring compliance with export control regulations. This also include processing and managing export licences for goods and supplies for the Ellesmere Port site, and liaising with other Aerospace and Defence sites to ensure the business is compliant with worldwide export control regulations to ensure operational functionality.
In addition to export control, you will oversee site compliance with defence security requirements (Security Aspect Letters) and security Vetting of personnel.
What You Can Expect from the Role
Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Managing the trade compliance and export licences for transportation of goods and supplies for a large manufacturing organisation
- Ensuring process and standards are upheld; reviews and recommends improvements to procedures to ensure export licences are in place efficiently to improve on-time delivery of goods and supplies
- Maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure that export control is managed effectively and efficiently. The successful candidate will ensure that they hold regular meetings with the customer service and procurement teams to ensure export requirements are in place in plenty of time
- Responsibility identifying where End User Undertakings are required for goods or supplies and contacting suppliers and customers to ensure that they are in place as required.
- Responsible for the administration and maintenance of companies through the SPIRE account
- Management of the product codification process for the Aerospace and Defence business for the Ellesmere Port site
- Manage the end to end export licence application process, this includes but is not limited to securing F680 licences and working with US colleagues to secure US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) applications
- Work together closely with the supply chain team to ensure that the appropriate export requirements are managed and in place to ensure regulatory compliance
- Communicating and corresponding, as the single point of contact, with the ECJU and completing annual returns and hosting periodic ECJU Visits.
- Provide advice to Management regarding changes and updated to Export Control Regulations and detail the business impacts
- Ensure data management of all export control information and maintenance of records
- Represent the Aerospace and Defence business during audits, including management of evidence and liaising with auditors to ensure that the business is compliant with export control requirements
- Work with internal stakeholders to improve export processes and system management through lean and agile management
- Representing the Ellesmere Port site within the Survitec Group, Export Compliance Officer organisation
- Manage customer security requirement in line with contracted requirements
- Provide security advice to team members regarding compliance with customer security requirements for the Ellesmere Port site.
- Be the Site Security Officer working collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure all controls and procedures are in place to comply with the BPSS vetting standards

- Representing Birkenhead site within the Survitec Group, Export Compliance Officer organisation

- Develops and maintains an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices
The Experience, Qualifications and Skills You Will Have

- Manoeuvres comfortably through complex policy, process and people-related organisational dynamics
- 5+ years experience of managing and administering an export compliance business system within a Defence company (with an thorough understanding of both UK and US export control requirements)
- Be conversant with UK export control laws and experienced in making export control licence applications and complying with licence requirements (particularly SIELS and OGELs) and conditions
- Experienced in internal and external Stakeholder Management
- Internal Audit Experience
- Experienced and ECJU Trained in product codification
Desirable
- Member of the Institute of Export
- Level 5 Diploma in International Trade (or working towards)
- Managing Export Compliance through an ERP
- Experience of delivering internal training on export control and compliance matters to relevant employees
- Be versatile, flexible and organised to handle a broad spectrum of tasks and competing priorities, whilst possessing a can-do attitude
- Knowledge of IFS and salesforce systems
