What is Splicing?

Fusion splicing is the act of joining two optical fibers end-to-end. The goal is to fuse the two fibers together in such a way that light passing through the fibers is not scattered or reflected back by the splice, and so that the splice and the region surrounding it are almost as strong as the intact fiber.

Due to growth, we are looking for an experienced Splicer to join our team. You will be deployed after the cable team to joint locations, either on a telegraph pole or in underground joint boxes. You will join together fibers using FNC’s (fibre node allocation). · Reading an understanding Microsoft Word/Excel/PDF based Job Packs.

· Reading and understanding BT Duct diagrams.

· Working in confined spaces.

· Photographing completed fibre nodes both inside the closure and externally, showing the position in the chamber or on the pole.

· Maintain a safe and secure work environment.

· Maintain project tracing information such as production sheets, time sheets, and customer required paperwork.

· Manage pole climbing, working at heights and handling Ladders.
