The challenge
Turbocharge McLaren Racing’s video output on social media, particularly on vertical reliant platforms including Instagram and TikTok.
Support McLaren Racing’s fan growth and engagement objectives by capturing and publishing highly engagement content across all McLaren Formula 1 social media channels
You will plan at least a week ahead to ensure McLaren’s channels are filled with engaging content, leaving room for reactive posts and the ability to immediately jump on social media trends.
This role may require travel to Formula 1 grands prix worldwide.
McLaren is a fast-paced and high-performance environment, and the nature of racing on weekends and working in the digital space means working in unsocial hours.
This role offers hybrid working but requires you to be at the McLaren Technology Centre at least three days per week (except for when traveling for grands prix) to capitilise on content capture opportunities and collaboration with social media colleagues.
Your team
You will report into the Manager, Social Media, and work closely with the rest of the social media and content teams to deliver against McLaren Racing’s commercial and communication objectives.
Your responsibilities
- To shoot and edit dynamic photography and video content for McLaren Racing.
- Hands-on creation of content for social channels across all platforms including but not limited to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
- Publish content across all social media channels in line with McLaren’s overarching social media strategy, adhering to the minimum required output set by the Social Media Manager.
- Plan McLaren’s social media video content at least a week in advance
- Utilise the full breath of archive footage, footage provided by our content production team and footage you’ve shot yourself to create best-in-class video content for McLaren’s social media channels.
- Support the delivery of social media content on race weekends.
- Help McLaren be first to social media trends.
- Proactive social media community management, including replies to fans on all posts.
- Maintain McLaren’s tone of voice across all channels.
Your story
- 2+ years’ experience in video editing.
- Proficient use of Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop and After Effects or equivalent editing software.
- Strong proactive communication skills, from verbal to email and instant messaging.
- Excellent proofreading and editing skills, demonstrating a clear understanding of social media tone of voice.
- Demonstrable ability to identify and execute on social media trends.
- Clear passion for social media community engagement and an understanding of the role that social media plays in sports fan engagement.
- Ability to engage multiple internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
