We focus on three areas – ethical leadership, trust building and sustainable living. Within each of these themes, we deliver training courses, events and programmes.
The Role:
As a member of the senior Executive Team, the Executive Director will provide leadership, developing and implementing IofC UK’s strategic plans, maximising the potential of IofC’s contribution to UK society and linking with IofC’s international work. The individual will be an effective advocate for the charity and its beneficiaries.
Main Responsibilities
The post-holder will:
- be the principal ambassador of IofC UK in its outreach work
- promote the work of the charity and facilitate the implementation of its strategic objectives
- give leadership to IofC UK’s staff and volunteer team – working closely with the other members of the Executive Team – helping IofC UK workers to ‘inspire, equip and connect’ people from all communities and walks of life to work together in a positive spirit
- as the “first among equals” on the Executive Team, help to deliver its delegated remit from the Board of Trustees effectively and according to the charity’s values
- work with the Board of Trustees and the Executive Team in coordination with staff and members, to shape IofC UK’s strategy and vision, and maintain the most effective structure for achieving its objects
- in partnership with the Company Secretary and operations lead, hold ultimate accountability for operational management and financial controls, and ensure good governance across all aspects of the charity
- cultivate excellent stakeholder relations
- establish contact with equivalent role-holders in other IofC bodies, including IofC International
Key Qualities
Essential
The successful candidate will:
- Have the passion and ability to pursue the mission of IofC, with a strong personal values system and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Have first class leadership and motivational skills.
- Have the skillset to lead a faith-based organisation effectively.
- Have a proven track record of achievement in a senior position in a charitable/not for profit organisation for at least three years.
- Be someone of proven leadership quality with experience in working effectively with diverse individuals and communities, with expertise in the management of conflict resolution.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Be inclusive and flexible, with a collaborative approach to leadership.
Desirable
- Be educated to degree level or equivalent experience working at senior leadership level.
- Have experience of working with diverse communities, including vulnerable groups.
- Have experience of leading organisational change.
- Have experience and understanding of financial and risk management.
- Have experience of working with a robust approach to governance, controls and definition, and the implementation of new processes
- Have experience of business planning and development, of fundraising, project management and service delivery across multiple functions.
Pay: Commensurate with similar charities, dependent on qualifications and experience.
