We need to add reliable staff to our pool of invigilators for University's examinations. This role is vital to ensuring smooth running examinations and enabling our students to perform their best in every examination.
Invigilators will undertake the following tasks:
- Setting out the examination papers and supporting documents/materials in the examination room
- Assisting students entering the examination room
- Ensuring correct procedures and regulations are followed by students during the examination
- Collecting the examination papers and supporting documents/materials at the end of the
examination.
The main examination sessions this year are:
Semester One: Saturday 17 December and Monday to Thursday, 19-22 December 2022
Semester One (Resit): Monday to Thursday, 3-6 April 2023
Semester Two: Monday to Friday, 8-19 May 2023 (including Saturday 13 May)
Semester Two (Resit): Saturday to Saturday, 8-15 July 2023
There are additional exams at other times in the year. Exams take place from Monday to Saturday.
The majority of exams start at 10.00am and 14.00pm and last between one and three hours. You are able to nominate which exam dates and times you are available to work for, so it can fit in with other work or responsibilities you have.
Invigilators are required to arrive 1 ½ hours before the exam and are likely to finish up to one hour after the exam ends. They are able to claim an hourly rate for the whole time they are working.
Invigilators will be required to attend an invigilator training session before their first session.
Exams take place at The King's Centre (Osney Mead) and at Headington Campus. Limited exams may occasionally take place at our other campuses.
This role will not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the points-based immigration system, however, applications are welcome from candidates who don’t currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a visa via another route.
The University has adopted equality, diversity and inclusion as core values. We welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates whatever their background, and especially from BAME candidates who are under-represented in our workforce.
All applicants will need to be interviewed prior to appointment.
