Evidence Officer - HC607908
Location: Southampton Central Evidence Centre
Salary: Scale 5, £25,758 - £27,690 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Contract: Permanent
Closing Date: Sunday 2nd April 2023 at 23:59 hours
About the Role
To deliver an efficient Evidence Management Service to colleagues and public in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, providing well managed secure environments for seized exhibits and reuniting owners with their property in a timely fashion.
Key Accountabilities include but are not limited to;
1. To collect and sign for Evidence Management Centre Keys and items of property deposited out of office hours in Temporary Evidence Stores (TES)
2. To assess items individually to decide their correct storage and subsequently their appropriate disposal if not for return. Prepare reports to facilitate their eventual disposal / return / auction and to be proactive when following procedures to make well informed and qualified decisions when required.
3. To provide statements and attend court as required.
4. To ensure the safekeeping of all seized monies held in Evidence Management Centres, including the processing and submission of Counterfeit Currency to NCIS. To assist in the counting and banking of seized cash when required. Updating the computer based Records Management System (RMS) with the amount banked if not completed by the OIC.
5. To provide the highest standard of Customer service to:
- All members of the public and visitors
- Constabulary employees
- Agency staff Ensuring that all contact and communication reflects the Constabulary's CARE values.
This will include dealing with enquiries from suspects, victims, witnesses of crime, next of kin and all relevant agencies in connection to this, to trace ownership and arrange for the disposal of their property
6. To be responsible for the safe custody of firearms and liaise with relevant authorities as appropriate. Prepare firearm disposal reports , deliver them to the applicable agency and witness their destruction on site.

Essential Qualifications
Educated to QCF Level 2 with passes in Maths and English Language or experience to bring postholder to comparable level.
A full a full current driving licence is required in order to be able to drive property vans to outlying sites.
Essential Experience
Previous experience of working in a busy office environment including a range of administrative procedures.
Computer literate.
