Senior Events Manager - Philanthropy
Location: Stratford, London (high flex - we would expect you to be in the office 1 to 2 days per week)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 pa depending on experience + benefits
Department: Philanthropy
Reports to: Head of Campaign and Engagement
Contract Type / Hours: FTC for 18 months/ Full time 35 hours per week (Other flexible-working requests can also be considered)

What will I be doing?
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Senior Events Manager in our Philanthropy directorate on a fixed term contract for 18 months to cover an internal secondment. We need you to lead the Philanthropy Events team to develop and deliver a sector leading events programme which profiles excellence in cancer research and helps to attract, engage, and drive donor loyalty and income growth for the directorate.
Key duties include:
  • The delivery of the events portfolio, ensuring the events and their outputs are audience-led, creative, sector leading and delivered to the expected standard and undertake event delivery when needed.
  • Develop the strategic events programme to support Philanthropy’s fundraising objectives, drawing on donor insights to develop the most effective experiences that maximise donor loyalty and engagement.
  • Set, manage, and monitor the budget for events team activity, maximising cost efficiency for CRUK.
  • Work in collaboration with content creation colleagues to develop and deliver a content strategy that aligns with both Philanthropy’s campaign narrative and core priorities.
  • Use expertise to inform and support the strategic planning of the Supporter Experience framework, delivering an events programme which is aligned to it.
  • Keep abreast of external trends and opportunities in the UK and internationally, to ensure the events programme is developed in line with the ambitions of the Philanthropy directorate and the external environment.
  • Manage relationships with senior CRUK stakeholders in relation to the development of the events team’s strategy and the implementation of events, to include informing, consulting and influencing.
  • Create and implement an event reporting system with KPIs and metrics to monitor and evaluate the success and impact of events activity.
What skills are we looking for?
We’re looking for a professional, flexible, and committed Events Manager with experience of leading a team.
You will bring to the role:
  • Significant events management experience, ideally in the context of delivering events that enable high value fundraising through relationship-building.
  • Thorough understanding and experience of the principles of major gift fundraising and a proven aptitude for donor care.
  • Experience of leading an operational team and driving high performance, with excellent team building, influencing, motivating and delegating skills.
  • Demonstrable experience of applying creative thinking to innovate and develop new opportunities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present complex information in an accessible format for major donors.
  • Experience of setting up, analysing and evaluating activity and programmes.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Packages with experience of using databases, particularly within fundraising.
