The Payments Association is seeking an innovative and bright Operations Manager who can take ownership of our exciting events portfolio, including our flagship conference and exhibition, PAY360, and The PAY360 Awards. We have ambitious growth plans for this portfolio over the next two years and you will have the opportunity to be part of that growth.
The Company
The Payments Association is a prominent membership organisation in financial services, with over 180 members from across the payment’s ecosystem. The business focuses on two main product areas; Membership and Events. Membership encompasses a range of marketing services, content outputs and smaller tailored events, whilst the Events product holds the three larger scale conference and exhibitions, as well as annual dinner and awards ceremony.
As the Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Operations Director, Events Director and Operations Executive to deliver small to large scale events across the year.
Aside from Wednesdays in the office or as and when required by events/your line manager’s request, the role is mainly remote based with the option to use the office space in London Bridge.
The role
- Owning and managing the monthly PA@TheCity networking receptions (held on the first Tuesday of every month between 6pm – 9pm)
- Administration support on monthly webinars
- Operational delivery of the annual PAY360 conference and exhibition
- Operational delivery of the annual PAY360 Awards
Main responsibilities
- Owning the operational delivery of PA@TheCity networking receptions, PAY360 and The PAY360 Awards
- Supporting on the operational delivery of monthly webinars
- Sourcing and managing relationships with venues
- AV sourcing and management
- Managing relationships with event sponsors/exhibitors and ensuring all sponsorship deliverables are met
- Working closely with outsourced designers on event signage, branding and event guides
- Where applicable, setting up events on virtual platforms and run on the event day
- Managing event budgets, making cost-savings where appropriate
- Managing event timelines and ensuring they are communicated effectively to the team
- Managing registration and badging for all events
- Developing and executing creative plans for event features
- Managing staff schedules and staff onsite
- Creating detailed operations plans for larger flagship events and ensuring first-class event delivery at all times
- Working closely with the Events Director to fulfil the flagship events targets and goals
- Working closely with the Operations Director and Operations Executive to ensure member event delivery is fulfilling its targets and goals
- KPI tracking – ensuring event strategies and goals are met with the support of the delivery team
- Option to manage the Operations Executive at a future stage
Requirements
Proven work experience as an Operations Manager in conference and exhibition events with a minimum of 4 years- Ideal but not essential: Experience in running dinner and award ceremonies

Proficiency in English with strong communications and writing skills
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Project management skills and ability to use one own’s initiative and to prioritise tasks

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships with payments experts
- Right to work in the UK
