About the Department:
The Corporate Events team operates within the Marketing, Student Recruitment and Admissions (MSRA) Directorate at SOAS, which is responsible for marketing, student recruitment, admissions, events and communications.
The Directorate is tasked with raising the profile of SOAS and ensuring that our people, expertise and values take a central place in national and international conversations. The events team is responsible for coordinating and delivering the large School-wide events, including graduation, staff parties, supporting Welcome Week, the Director’s Lecture Series, the Inaugural Lecture Series, VIP events in the Director’s Office, and various Centres and Institutes events.
MSRA works particularly closely with central professional services including, Registry, Student and Academic Services, IT, Legal and Governance, Estates and all the Academic Departments and the Director’s Office.
About the Role:
Working within the Corporate Events team, the Events Officer will support the Head of Events in planning, organising, delivering and evaluating all of the large School-wide events, including Graduation ceremonies, Welcome Week activities, staff parties, the Director’s Lecture Series, the inaugural Lecture Series for newly promoted professors, and activities within the Director’s Office such as special VIP dinners.
The post holder will ensure all the corporate events are delivered smoothly and to a high standard, working closely with the other Events Officer and supervising Student Ambassadors within the Corporate Events team.

You will need to demonstrate:
Experience of planning and delivering multiple, large-scale, high-profile events (preferably in a Higher Education environment).
Exceptional organisational and administrative skills to ensure the annual events programme is well planned and successfully delivered.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Excellent attention to detail and able to work on own initiative against too tight deadlines.
Strong interpersonal communication skills, sound judgement and understanding with excellent time management and organisational skills.
Strong written, verbal, presentation and networking skills and the ability to engage and interact with diverse audiences.
Effective project management skills with budget management experience.
Ability to work as a positive and proactive member of the Event Team and think creatively to identify opportunities to develop events and activities.
Willingness and ability to work flexibly, as weekend and evening work will be required.
