An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Events, Arts & Marketing Officer to join the Communities Team to take the lead on delivery, continual development, review and improvement of events and arts development across the Council.

We are looking for a forward thinking and creative minded person with a strong passion for events and arts development to lead the Events Team and report to the Communities Manager.

You will be responsible for the organisation, administration, budget management and safe delivery of key events which form our busy annual calendar of events, such as the Festival of Leisure, Christmas Lights Switch On and civic events.

Your passion in the arts will lead you to develop new relationships across the district and advance the Council’s arts development function.

You will be self-motivated and be able to generate, manage and prioritise your own workload, whilst monitoring and supporting others in the team. You will have the ability to multitask several events at a time at various stages of their preparation and delivery.

Maintaining and building new relationships with colleagues, partners, community groups, businesses and many more is key to our events. As is having excellent verbal, written communication, and customer service skills to keep everyone involved and up to date to deliver a successful and meaningful event.

You will work closely with the Communications Team to provide website and social media content, as well as other day-to-day duties to support the diverse range of promotion of the services within the Directorate and beyond.

You must be qualified in event management or have equivalent experience, have experience/knowledge of Microsoft Office and have experience of community engagement, working with volunteers and project management.

Working patterns are generally 9am – 5pm, however due to the nature of event delivery, you will also prepare, support and run events which will require evening and weekend working. The Flexible Hours Working Scheme applies to this post.
