Our radiographers are able to work in a range of clinical specialisms not found in many other hospitals. 1. To undertake general radiographic tasks, in line with governmental and departmental protocols, working both alone and within radiology and multidisciplinary teams.

2. To check patient identification and documentation, and ensure the appropriate radiographic examinations are carried out in accordance with departmental protocols and clinical requests.

3. Operating static, theatre and mobile equipment, then assessing patient's needs adapt and modify radiographic techniques according to the patient's condition. Attending to patients' welfare at all times.

4. To evaluate radiographs taken for diagnostic quality, and alert clinicians of any abnormality when appropriate.

5. Assist and prepare patients and equipment for specialised examinations undertaken by senior staff, Radiologists and other clinicians.

6. To participate in the departmental Quality Assurance programme to ensure the efficient operation of the highly technical equipment, and to ensure compliance with best practice by minimising radiation exposures as evaluated by dose reference levels.

7. To be familiar with, understand and apply the principles of Radiation Safety, both nationally and locally regulated or protocol led.

8. To participate in the 'Out of Hours' and 'On call' rosters, in line with the departmental agreement, to support full service delivery.

9. To give theoretical instruction, practical guidance, and supervision to Student Radiographers, Assistant Practitioners and trainees.

10. To assist with the practical experience of newly inducted staff

11. To facilitate communication between the department and all service users, patients, relatives, staff and external users, including any adherence to Trust policies, including the participation in annual appraisal systems.

12. Communicate with patients and professions colleagues in situations that may be traumatic due to pressures of work or where the patient’s condition may be a barrier to comprehension and compliance, e.g. Claustrophobia, learning difficulties or injury traumatised.

13. To ensure the correct use, and care of all equipment and report defective equipment or potential hazards to senior staff in accordance with the Departmental Health & Safety policy.

14. To safely utilise all resources for the maximum benefit of the service and to assist in the maintenance of stock levels.

15. To assist in the implementation of all manual and electronic information systems ensuring consistently accurate data collection and recording, in support of standard data collection, performance activity, audit and Capacity and demand analysis. Recording patient dosimetry in compliance with local requirements for dose reference levels.
