This role sits in the fundraising team of BBC Media Action - the international charity of the BBC that uses media and communications to help people in some of the world’s poorest and most fragile countries. Our projects and programmes save lives, protect livelihoods, counter misinformation, challenge prejudice and build democracy.
Main ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Head of Fundraising, this role will lead on the delivery of the established programme of fundraising and stewardship events, delivering sector leading innovative events. Working closely with BBC Media Action’s Fundraising Board, the Events and Philanthropy Manager will continue to grow the BBC’s Charity Correspondents’ Dinner and Annual Supporter’s Event. Working on both existing events and developing new initiatives, this role requires high degree of creativity and supporter insight, to secure committed long-term engagement and to maximise income.
Working with the Head of Fundraising, this role will also support on the development, management and growth of the charity’s high value individual giving proposition, including effective development of cases for support, and prospect identification, particularly from event attendees.
Are you the right candidate?To be successful in this role you will need the following skills and experience:-
- Demonstrable experience working in a fundraising environment and delivering successful fundraising and cultivation events
- A track record of renewing, developing and securing funding from corporate or high net worth prospects
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building and presentational skills with an ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences
- Financial skills including the ability to construct and use spreadsheets to monitor a budget.
- Proven ability to work as both a team member and in an independent capacity
- A good awareness of digital and social media.
