The Team
The Upstart team aims to partner with banks and credit unions, as well as car dealerships, to help them navigate and thrive through one of the most foundational technology transformations in history. Through our AI lending platform, lending partners are able to gain new customers and approve more borrowers at lower rates, while eliminating every bit of friction associated with the process.
We're an analytical, outgoing team and are now ready to scale and grow Upstart to the next level. We’re looking for an experienced Events and Field Marketing professional to lead our company events, 3rd party conference participation, and field marketing efforts, reporting directly to our VP of Marketing.
In this role, you will partner closely with our Sales and Marketing teams to plan, execute, and follow-up on Upstart’s presence at 3rd party industry conferences and our owned events—large and small. You will play a critical role in building out our overall events and conference strategy with key responsibilities including identifying the best conferences to sponsor, speak at and and attend, as well as ensuring our participation in those conferences raises awareness of Upstart in the industry while delivering significant ROI to our marketing and sales efforts.
Position Location - Remote with ability to travel to all events and 3rd party conferences
Travel Requirements - This role requires travel to all events and 3rd party conferences. In addition, this team has periodic, in-person collaboration sessions. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel-related expenses.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Leadership: Lead in-person B2B marketing efforts for Upstart; develop and optimize Upstart’s overall in-person presence, brand and participation in owned and 3rd party conferences to best reach decision makers and key influencers.
- End-to-end events & conference ownership. Drive event strategy, planning and execution of Upstart conferences, field marketing programs and 3rd party sponsorships.
- Effective lead generation & follow-up. Lead process with sales, business development and demand gen teams to prepare, execute and generate new leads from an event sponsorship.
- Industry awareness. Raise awareness and represent Upstart in the industry through memorable conference experiences, sponsorships, exhibitions, and participation.
- Strong execution. Manage and execute all onsite and hybrid events including overall speaker and attendee experience, staffing, registration, and overall event logistics.
- Budget ownership. Develop and manage the budget to successfully execute high quality events, conferences and field marketing that optimize for ROI.
What we’re looking for:
- Minimum qualifications:
- 7+ years of B2B technology conference and events planning; experience at a fast-paced technology company preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
- Ability to travel to all events and conferences
- Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in building out and delivering a world-class, customer and industry conference.
- A customer-centric mindset with a proven track record of successfully enabling enterprise sales and marketing teams.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and project management skills to deliver on multiple events and projects, on time and within budget.
- Proven experience working with enterprise B2B sales and marketing teams.
- Creative, out-of-the-box thinker who can take a vision and plan and execute at the highest level.
- Strong oral and written communications with proven ability to develop and present ideas to senior management, sales teams and other stakeholders.
- Player-coach: ability to think strategically and scale with the willingness to roll-up your sleeves in an early stage environment; management experience preferred.
- Highly self-motivated to drive results, always curious and have a desire to learn and grow to solve new business problems.

At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location–with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
