Job description
The Higher Education Progression Partnership South Yorkshire (HeppSY) is a collaborative outreach initiative, funded by the Office for Students, and delivered in partnership with Sheffield Hallam, University of Sheffield and local colleges.
HeppSY aims to significantly improve participation in higher education by under-represented groups in South Yorkshire through targeted, monitored and evaluated outreach activity.
Your role will be to support the Evaluation and Data Manager to ensure that data on widening participation activity in schools, colleges and partners is collected, inputted, monitored, analysed, and reported on, and that the Programme is evaluated effectively using both quantitative and qualitative methods.
This will involve using a variety of tools and methods and working in partnership with schools/colleges and other stakeholders. Experience and skills in data analysis are of particular importance for this role.
An experienced researcher/evaluator, you will also have a good understanding of higher, further, and secondary education and widening participation policy and practice.
You will undertake research tool development, data collection/cleaning and analysis, including interviewing and focus groups (with students, parents/carers, teachers, and partners), and surveys.
Excellent communication skills are vital, and you'll also need the ability to present complex information clearly in various formats to differing audiences.
Please note that travel across South Yorkshire will be required and may include attendance at some events in the evening or at weekends.
If you are offered this post, you will be subject to an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service. A criminal record will not necessarily prevent you from working at Sheffield Hallam University but its relevance to the duties of the post will need to be assessed before the appointment is confirmed.
We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.
You will be contractually enrolled into the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country. Further details on LGPS can be found here:
