Wealth and Personal Banking (WPB) is our new global business combining Retail Banking and Wealth Management; and Global Private Banking, to become one of the world’s largest global wealth managers with USD1.4 trillion in assets. HSBC Asset Management (“AM”)’s Product Group is responsible for the strategic and commercial development of AM Product manufacturing capabilities including Development, Management, Governance, Support and Mandate delivery across all Global Markets. The role is to support the management and enhancement of AMs products globally in relation to the implementation of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) labels, policies and regulation across prospectuses and offering documentation, whilst promoting consistency in language and approach and minimising risk to the business.
We are currently seeking an individual to join this team as ESG Product Manager. The role will work closely with the Senior ESG Implementation Manager, Product Regulatory & Language Specialist and the Sustainable Policy Manager.
In this role, you will:
- Active member of the SFDR working group.
- Support the implementation/roll out of agreed ESG language across platform documentation including legal and point of sale documents within Global and UK product ranges, working on Prospectus, Pre-Contractual Disclosures, website disclosures etc.
- Be responsible for managing the global product content and updates to the European ESG Template (EET).
- Working with Performance and Reporting to produce periodic SFDR reports for Global funds (Lux and Ireland).
- Assist with the approval of any documents and SFDR disclosures, as detailed above, including Fund Boards, Management Company, local Product Committees, ESG Oversight Committees etc.
- Liaison with other teams in France, Germany & Malta to ensure a level of consistency of Sustainable disclosure.
- Assist the relevant Product Managers and across the HSBC AM business with regulatory updates for language & figures across platforms and specifically amendments required for SFDR, Taxonomy, SDR and any other pertinent regulation impacting funds in Europe.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the HSBC policy narratives (Thermal Coal, Oil & Gas, NZAM etc) consistently across Global and UK product ranges.
- Research and assess the commercial benefits of implementing any required ESG labels in all relevant jurisdictions, including France, Nordics, Austria, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium, UK, Singapore and Hong Kong. This will have particular impact on cross border funds.
- Assess the impact of ESG labels on reporting/demonstrating compliance for each label which will need to evidence minimum levels of sustainable investments.
- Assist with product management changes in relation to fund name changes, including ESG naming conventions and ensure naming policies are adhered to.
- Assist with training to cross functional teams on ESG regulatory change and their implications for AM product documentation.
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation) & EET (European ESG Template) is essential
- Ability to demonstrate significant previous project management and product delivery experience at an established asset manager is essential for this role
- Knowledge of ESG Labels, primarily with the SRI market in Europe is desirable but not essential
- Strong analytical and data manipulation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, an ability to communicate with impact.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple complex initiatives (at different levels of granularity).
- Good team player who can work with global and local functional team members in different time zones and who can foster and maintain good relationships.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure with competing and rapidly changing priorities.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders in a global environment is desirable.
- Some Asset Management experience is preferable but is not mandatory.
This is a hybrid working role with the base location as London. The successful candidate will have to have the ability to commute to this location.
