THE ROLE
We're seeking an intern for WiseEnergy’s ESG team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to enter the renewable and ESG sector covering photovoltaic (PV) solar assets in the UK and also internationally. This position is fixed term of 12 months.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Working alongside WiseEnergy professionals, this will be an integral role in the WiseEnergy ESG team. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the ESG handover process from clients to WiseEnergy, drafting and finalising associated ESG onboarding reports for each PV plant managed by WiseEnergy
- Supporting ESG Action Plan delivery involving: working with key stakeholders to prioritise ESG recommendations to implement; identifying consultants to deliver specialist works; budget tracking; preparing scopes of work; contract tendering and management and ensuring work is delivered to the correct standard
- Supporting the Senior ESG Analyst and Commercial Analysts with quarterly client ESG reporting
- Supporting ESG data collection related to Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulations
- Developing WiseEnergy’s internal AMP platform to capture ESG information and populating AMP with relevant ESG information
- Liaising with stakeholders and clients as required
- Keeping up to date with ESG legislation in the UK and internationally helping to provide guidance on best ESG practice
- Onboarding documentation review and extraction of key information into WiseEnergy’s onboarding report and operating plan. In addition, support drafting of ESG scopes of work in contracts and adding relevant information into the internal ESG tracker
- Document management
- Ad hoc project work.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Time management & prioritization skills - things can get a little hectic, so the ability to effectively manage yourself and your workload is critical
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (in English or/and other European languages) - you must be able to organize your thoughts in a way that others find clear and compelling. You will be expected to together well-written, grammatically correct emails and other communications. When communicating verbally – whether over the phone, on video calls, in person or in meetings – you will need to be articulate, warm and engaging
- Flexibility - being an effective team player means being flexible in your approach and open to getting involved with new things, even if they are not spelt out in your job description
- Intellectual Curiosity – ESG is a broad and nuanced field, and we are looking for someone who is truly interested in our profession and has the intellectual curiosity to delve deep into topics and bring fresh ideas to the team
- IT Literacy - you need to be comfortable with IT systems and working with data (you should have at least intermediate-level excel and experience of PowerPoint)
- Delivery focus – it may sound obvious, but the ability to proactively churn through work at pace and deliver quality outputs really matters
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Recent graduate (or graduating in summer 2023) with up to 1-2 years of relevant working experience
- Minimum of 2:1 (or expected) degree from a top university in a science/social science/ numerate subject. Candidates with degrees in other subjects will be considered if they have evidence of strong numeracy and written/verbal communication skills
- The right to work in the UK.
