Job description
The role of the Escape Room Games and Building Technician is a pivotal one to ensure all escape rooms and games are supported technically and appropriately maintained. You will be responsible for overseeing the technical operation of two venues; AIM Escape and Breakin’ Escape Rooms. AIM consists of 5 indoor games and 1 outdoor experience. Breakin’ Escape consists of 8 games. Responsibilities will include being the first port of call for any technical issues/breakages, and the upkeep and maintenance of both buildings including health and safety.
Main Responsibilities
· Oversee all technical aspects of the games.
· Maintaining the high standards and upkeep of the buildings to ensure customer’s safety and security.
· Being the first port of call for all technical issues with any of the puzzles.
· Carrying out running repairs on props and puzzles as required.
· Writing daily reports based on information provided by your teams for each room and submitting to producers/management team.
· Risk Assessments – creating and amending new and existing risk assessments.
· Prioritise improvements of the set and props.
· Know all details of the games, puzzles, technologies, and interactive elements. Identifying, troubleshooting and recording technical issues.
· General venue /set clearing up.
· Liaise with the appropriate personnel to report any game or technical issues and work with other members of the team to resolve them in a timely manner
· Liaise with the General Manager regarding any building/health and safety issues.
· Troubleshooting technical challenges, with the support of the remote team if necessary.
· To be an active member of the team, working to support and assist staff in other departments where necessary.
· Following Health and Safety procedures and ensure all activity is carried out to a high standard.
· Other duties as required.
Personal Specification:
· Experience of working in a similar role, ideally within immersive/escape room environments or otherwise within the entertainment and live arts industries.
· Technically competent with the ability and enthusiasm to learn new software and systems.
· Organised, good time management, flexible and self-motivated.
· Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
· Good communication and organisational skills.
· Comfortable in high-pressure situations, with the ability to actively and quickly resolve potential issues.
Skills:
· Experience in carpentry, electrics, basic plumbing.
· Prop making skills.
· Health and safety aware.
Desirables:
· A passion and interest in immersive experiences.
· Experience with electronic equipment such as Arduinos, Raspberry Pi, low-voltage electrical systems.
· You will have a good knowledge of solutions, computers and electronics.
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £15.00-£20.00 per hour
