We are currently seeking to recruit an experienced individual to join as Senior Equity Research Analyst (Listed Infrastructure). The role holder’s primary responsibility is to undertake fundamental bottom-up research in the Utilities sector with the objective to generate superior risk-adjusted returns for the Listed Infrastructure Equity strategies managed by HSBC They will have a keen understanding of the investment process for the infrastructure equity asset class and the integration of ESG principles to , ensure the to consistently exceed clients and industry’s expectations.
The successful candidate will join a team of 7 located in HSBC’s London and Sydney offices and leveraging the firm’s global platform. The team has developed a reputation for their consistently strong relative performance and regularly featuring in the top quartile of competitor performance rankings.
In this role, you will:
- Provide investment idea generation from primary stock coverage responsibilities in-line with the investment process and return objectives off the Fund
- Undertake fundamental company analysis on those companies supported by detailed financial models consistent with the framework followed by the team
- Be responsible for the team’s relationship with the management teams of those companies and certain other industry participants
- Provide input on portfolio construction considerations aligned with the listed infra equity strategies
- Ensure ESG considerations are integrated in the investment approach, leveraging our proprietary data, other third party data, stock research, active engagement and our ESG governance frameworks.
- Collaborate with other team members formally on secondary coverage responsibilities and informally with regards to investment idea generation
- Participate in the review and evolution of the investment process, ensuring its robust and consistent application
- Follow and analyse industry trends with respect to their impact on coverage responsibilities and the asset class, including developing thought leadership
- Facilitate beneficial working relationships within Alternatives and the broader AM, including but not limited to the equity platform.
- Support strategic initiatives as required
To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:
- Post graduate degree and / or relevant professional qualification
- Significant knowledge / experience working in the real assets sector with a proven investment track record
- Investigational/analytical mindset with strong financial statement analysis skills
- Strong communication and influencing skills in oral and written English
- Ability to interpret and analyse complex information from a range of sources and present in a succinct and compelling way.
- Excellent organizational skills with a willingness to assume responsibilities to deliver against targets.
- Strong team player with the ability work cohesively and collaboratively across the organization
- Work experience in multiple regions, especially Asia, is beneficial.
- Experience working to tight deadlines with the ability to act with urgency, be accountable, and willingness to be courageous.

This is a hybrid working role with the base location as either London or Sydney.
