The central Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) team lies within the Office of the President and Provost, and was established to strategically advance equality, diversity and inclusion at UCL. The team draws from diverse expertise to provide expert advice, engagement and support to faculties and departments to advance inclusion initiatives and good practice at UCL. The structure and purpose of the team is to embed EDI initiatives into core business and mainstream the values on which UCL was founded.
About the role
The main purpose of the EDI Officer role is to support key EDI work, initiatives and projects, across the range of protected characteristics (for example, race equity interventions, supporting staff with reasonable adjustments and work on preventing and responding to harassment and sexual misconduct). The role will work with a wide range of stakeholders including students, staff and external stake holders to influence positive change. The post-holder will sit within the central EDI Team and be a first point of contact for queries and requests.

About you
To be successful in this role, the post holder will have experience of working on equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) issues, activity and interventions, as well as a good knowledge of the Equality Act and its application. With project management experience, you will also have good time management and organisational skills. Your high-level communication skills will enable you to deliver training as well as advise stakeholders on sensitive and sometimes contentious issues. As such, it will be essential to work with integrity and sensitivity, respecting confidentiality where appropriate. Able to produce written documents and training materials to a high standard.
As a key member of the central EDI Team, we need a team player who is able to work flexibly and using initiative where appropriate.
