About us
The PMC is a Charitable organisation and a Company Limited by Guarantee with an aim to provide opportunities and services to the community of Sheffield and its surrounding areas regardless of their ethnicity, culture, religion, sexuality, age, or background.
The PMC have provided opportunities, services, and sustainable support since 1989. It has hosted a range of projects and programmes in its impressively large building including children education projects such as Summer School , Healthy Lifestyles Project for the Community, support for people suffering from mental health problems through the Enhanced Pathways into Care (EPIC) Project (this is on going), and a core Women's Group such as the MILAN Women's Group.
Further, The PMC where possible, offers advice and support for service users and signposts for advocacy support. The services offered are also available to the wider community as it has advanced the provision of its activities and support beyond the Pakistani/Muslim community to include the refugee/asylum seeker communities, various other BME communities and the indigenous community.
There is also an in-house Community Radio station with licence given for 5 years.

1. To work in a collaborative way to reduce the length of stay in hospital of South Asian service users by promoting early discharge and identifying and utilizing community resources.
2. Support the abilities of communities in encouraging positive mental health and mental wellbeing.
Education: Basic education with an interest in mental health is required.
Knowledge: Understanding of issues within the BME mental health agenda.
Language: Fluency in Urdu/Punjabi /Bangla/Arabic will be a distinct advantage but any one with other Community language will also be considered.
Location: Interview/induction training/ contract managed by the Pakistani Muslim Centre (PMC), Woodbourn Rd, Sheffield S9 3LQ, but the actual work will take place at Michael Carlie centre and Longley Centre ( Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust).
Salary: £21,748.62 per annum (based on a full-time week of 40 hours equivalent) pro-rata payment for this post applies.
Hours: This post is for a total of 18 hours per week. Hourly rate at national minimum wage of £10.42 (age related) with payment of £750.24 per calendar month (Exact amount, age dependent).
Working hour: Mon to Friday (4pm-8pm fixed), Saturday and Sunday (4pm-8pm preferred but earlier time is also possible on weekend only) .
For example, after DBS cleared:
Monday =4pm-8pm=4 hr-Michael Carlisle Centre (INPATIENT WARDS)
Tuesday =4pm-8pm=4 hr - Longley Centre (INPATIENT WARDS)
Wednesday=11am-12 noon=2 hr-PMC (training plus other tasks)
Saturday=4pm-8pm=4 hr= Michael Carlisle Centre (INPATIENT WARDS)
Sunday = 4pm-8pm=4 hr =Longley Centre (INPATIENT WARDS)
Contract length: fixed contract for 1 year initially, renewable subject to funding,
Accountable to: Pakistan Muslim Centre and Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust.
