Summary
As the Environmental specialist, you will be responsible for all environmental compliance and site permit adherence EPR permit). You will also have responsibilities for both site sustainability plans, and to deliver new environmental projects across both sites. Your duties will comprise of ensuring compliance to site waste management, abstraction permits, packaging waste, REACH, TSF, Energy, MCERT and effluent plant management etc.
Essential Functions
- A strong environmental background
- A very good understanding of Environmental management system and ISO standards.
- Liaise with Local Authorities, Environment Agency, other Statutory Bodies and Cooperate
- A strong knowledge of waste management including TSF and packaging waste regulation.
- Strong knowledge on REACH
- Strong knowledge of MCERT.
- Knowledge of industry standards relating to LCA and Carbon Reporting.
- Annual Permit reporting & pollution inventory reporting
- Understanding of how to measure the impact on the environment of businesses, products, and services.
- Attend site start up meetings to establish environmental requirements (e.g. permits/noise, dust, vibration monitoring).
- Promote best environmental practice and educate the workforce on how to improve environmental performance.
- Strong knowledge of EPR permit and abstraction permit.

Knowledge/Qualification/Education
- Relevant science degree as a minimum, Environmental management or science degree
- Relevant professional membership, chartered status, would be advantageous
Experience
- Experience in a role predominantly involved in environmental permitting (including fire prevention plans) and/or producer compliance applications, either with the Environment Agency or a consultancy company
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong working relationships internally and externally at all levels
- Working knowledge and understanding of ISO management systems would be advantageous
- Experience of environmental monitoring or waste classification would be advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of EPR permit and abstraction permit.
