Summary

Our Trading Compliance team, based at our head office in Surbiton, manages and shapes all aspects of health & safety, food safety, fire safety, age restricted sales and environmental protection policy within Lidl. You will be supporting our colleagues and ensuring safety is at the forefront of everything we do. Integrating effectively with our senior management teams to lead compliance and to ensure high colleague engagement across our sites.
You will play a vital part in ensuring that we meet our regulatory requirements, ensuring the safety of all colleagues, customers and contractors within our stores, warehouses and offices.
We offer a comprehensive training and development plan which will give you the skills to perform your role and therefore welcome Environmental Health graduate applications or applications from those who have recently completed their NEBOSH General Certificate.
We have moved to a fully flexible model of mobile working for appropriate Head Office and Regional roles, empowering our teams to choose how and where they work best. We feel it is important that, where possible, we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible and trust our teams to determine the right environments that work most effectively for them. Please note that your primary place of work will be at our brand-new office in Surbiton, with frequent travel across Great Britain required.

What you'll do
- Dealing with a wide range of legal and operational issues including providing technical guidance and reactive support
- Developing and maintaining a positive safety culture across all operational areas
- Ensuring that risk assessments and internal procedures remain current, effective and relevant
- Actively participating in meetings to bring a safety perspective and understanding to the business
- Proactively improving compliance and standards within our stores, warehouses and offices
- Incident and accident investigations
- Conducting site visits, inspections, and audits across all areas of the business to ensure the necessary levels of understanding and compliance are in place
- Representing and supporting the Company during local authority investigations, enforcement and engagement
- Liaising with external service providers to ensure the highest levels of service and statutory compliance
- To support corporate goals and maintain Lidl at the forefront of regulatory compliance
What you'll need
- An environmental health related degree or relevant health and safety qualification such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent
- Good technical knowledge of health & safety and / or food safety
- Previous experience in retail and warehousing would be advantageous but not essential
- Have the ability to influence and persuade people at all levels within the organisation both informally, and within the meeting and training environments, with the ability to project a professional positive presence and an appropriate level of credibility
- Flexibility to travel to all areas within GB and must hold a full UK driving license
- Effective time management skills, able to work within tight time frames with ability to plan and prioritise, think clearly and strategically
- Strong written skills and IT skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint as a minimum
- Excellent team player as part of a progressive fast paced team with ability to effectively work alone
- Enthusiastic with a solution focused attitude, self-motivated and dedicated to achieving the highest results
