We have a great opportunity for an Environmental, Health & Safety Advisor to join us on a permanent basis. This a full-time role, which can be undertaken on a hybrid working pattern from our site in Inverness.
What YOU will do here at LifeScan:
Working in our Environmental, Health and Safety team, the Global position of the Environmental, Health and Safety Advisoris to assist in overseeing the organisation's Environmental, Health & Safety operations to ensure high standards are attained, continually improved, and all legal obligations are met.
Ideally the EH&S Advisor will have knowledge of Manufacturing principles and have extensive experience operating in an Environmental, Health & Safety role.
The ability to work independently and as part of a wider Global Environmental, Health & Safety team is key, as is experience working with Occupational Health. Experience of building a robust and consistent culture of safety throughout an organization is essential.
The EH&S Advisor role is someone with a strong sense of self-drive, a resilience to overcome challenges and deliver results, someone with experience in managing and overseeing 3rd party contractors, and an understanding of the regulatory sector and the management of risk.
Requirements:Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the delivery of a single approach to Environmental, Health and Safety that meets the organisation's global needs, statutory duties, and the expectations of key stakeholders, in relation to Environmental, Health, Safety and Wellbeing
- Continuing the development and delivery of Environmental, Health and Safety management systems, processes, procedures, and culture to ensure continuous improvement and industry best practice
- Monitoring and evaluating the operation of Environmental, Health and Safety performance globally, working with senior management across all functions as appropriate
- Providing technical expertise in diverse Environmental, Health and Safety programs which may include; machine safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, sustainability, biosafety, chemical management, waste management, climate change and packaging obligations
- Offering competent advice on managing risk, incident investigation, and contract management to the company and its staff
- Developing and delivering a suite of online and classroom-based Environmental, Health and Safety training programs
About YOU:
To be successful in this role, you'll be a problem-solver with a strong background in Environmental, Health and Safety. Ideally, you'll have a degree in a relevant discipline, and hold a NEBOSH (National Examination Board of Occupational Safety and Health) Diploma or equivalent, as well as EH&S Internal Auditor experience (ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001).
Together with:
- Good communication skills; able to adapt your approach to different audiences
- An ability to work independently, but also be comfortable contributing to team and project work when required
- Good technical report writing skills
- Knowledge and experience of maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications
- Experience in monitoring the production and review of all types of risk assessments that are in sufficient detail and proportionate to the risk
- A good knowledge of industrial hygiene, sustainability and safe systems of work, including permit to work
It would be nice if you had but not essential:
- Chartered membership of IOSH (Institute of Occupational Safety and Health), or actively working towards this
- Membership of IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment), or actively working towards this
