Our Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Environmental Graduate to join our Staffordshire Highways team.
This multi-disciplinary team, with strong links to the wider Amey Highways and Consulting business, provides a range of local highway improvements and maintenance solutions for our client.
The role will not only give you the opportunity to be involved in the delivery of large Construction Projects but also could include the opportunity to assist the team with working on the Net Zero roadmap.
We have recently secured a 5 year extension to the current contract, maintaining the highway network in Staffordshire until October 2029. We aim to improve and provide effective highways services for the local residents and communities of Staffordshire.
The role will be based at our Stafford Depot and will require a Full UK Driving Licence.
You will be responsible for:
You will be responsible for assisting the team with Carbon Management, establishing and assure data sources, collate, calculate, and analyse carbon footprint and making recommendations for improvement.
You will also be our point of contact for Environmental Permitting, making applications with the EA, maintaining register of environmental permissions, supporting Technical Waste Managers and developing positive working relationships with local EA Officers.
In addition to the above this role would involve providing input to DMRB topics such as Population, Waste & Materials, Environmental Management & Sustainability and co-ordinating environmental projects ranging from scoping studies to full environmental statements.
What you will bring?
As a Graduate, other than your relevant degree, we don’t expect you to bring prior experience with you when you join us; we will give you all the opportunities,. However there are a few things needed to qualify for our programme:
- Degree in Environmental Science (or other relevant degree)
- Graduate member of a professional body or qualifications leading to membership;
- Experience and expertise using Microsoft packages; particularly word and excel
- Good communication and presentation skills;
- Enthusiastic, energetic and dynamic approach to people and projects
- Forward thinking and interested in developing smart ways of working with teams to realise client and operational objectives
- Demonstrable experience of working in a collaborative or joint venture environment is highly desirable
- Experience of Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) standards is advantageous
