Job description
The Environmental Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all environmental requirements on a project are met and for the management and oversight of all environmental issues relating to construction activities. This shall include, but not limited to development and implementation of site-specific environmental procedures and plans, compliance with federal and state documentation of environmental approvals, continual monitoring of the Design-Builder’s adherence to such procedures, plans, regulations and standards, and implementing corrective action and/or mitigation measures as necessary to comply with the requirements of Project Documents.
Responsibilities
- Develop a project specific environmental plan.
- Manage and oversee environmental aspects of construction activities.
- Ensure work activities are in compliance with the site-specific environmental plan.
- Monitor adherence to Federal and State environmental regulations and standards.
- Manage all environmental work permitting.
- Implement corrective action and mitigation measures as needed.
- Oversee waste management and pollution control activities.
- Collect and analyze environmental data.
- Write up reports on our environmental investigative and management efforts.
- Consult and advise project team members on environmental best practices.
- Report environmental incidents to company management, and the client.
Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Environmental Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA certificates are preferred.
- New York State Professional Engineering License.
- Proficiency in environmental engineering principals, regulations, and project requirements.
- Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings.
- Working knowledge of MS Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and computer skills.
