They also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world’s leading international bank.
Our multi-disciplined teams include: DevOps engineers, IT architects, front and back end developers, infrastructure specialists, cyber experts, as well as project and programme managers.

This role drives the transformation priorities for Enterprise Technology to ensure we achieve our desired outcomes. Our transformation aligns to our Group Technology Vision ’27 goals and will prepare Enterprise Technology architecture, platforms, practices, and culture for the challenges of the future.
Role Description:
The incumbent will actively manage the transformation implementation and progress reviews for initiatives across a global team encompassing approx. 7000 employees. They will steer initiatives, optimise benefits and be able to work across a global matrix of CIO teams and Technology Centres that support many of our functions across the Bank. Reporting to the Head of Transformation for Enterprise Technology, the role will work to ensure the functions across Enterprise Technology make progress against the transformation goals we set in a coordinated way.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for technology transformation, innovation, a customer-focused mindset, strong communication and influencing skills and a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
The role holder will be able to:
- Motivate colleagues to create a continually high performing function.
- Work across diverse functions and markets adapting and integrating approaches to cater for different architectures, starting points and statuses.
- Manage the transformation implementation, track progress, successes and key metrics including against Vision ’27 and our core priorities for the function which are 1) data backbone focus, 2) engineering excellence initiatives, 3) colleague and customer focus, 4) people and culture initiatives as well as 5) technology estate metrics and tracking of ‘North Star’ definitions and migrations to common and re-usable solutions (along with Architecture).
- Drives the transformation initiatives and associated reporting on the evolution of our practices including DevOps, Mode 2 and agile frameworks adoption. Ensure that we focus on the most viable and required areas providing clear approaches for different patterns and associated tooling solutions across our diverse architecture.
- Track and communicate department success strategy and success stories.
- Drive the engagement and culture agenda across Enterprise Technology. Establish connections into business transformation as appropriate and communicate our value creation and outcomes.
- Support the Organisation Design of the function and the transition of structures to new models. Support the transition of the workforce mix to deliver on our strategy. Work in partnership with our Operations Director to achieve our talent goals.
- Define how to interface and align transformation initiatives across our matrixed organisation including what is enabled through CIOs teams, through regions and through Tech Centres.
- Support innovation with new ideas and help bring an outside in perspective into Enterprise Technology. The role holder will be able to scan the horizon for key themes and trends in technology and track our innovation pipeline across the teams. This includes wider technology enablers and practices improvements.
Responsibilities:
The role holder will work in partnership with the Head of Engineering Excellence, Architecture, Service Quality, IT COO Operations Director and the CIO aligned Transformation Leads to deliver on the agenda for the ET function. As Enterprise Technology continues on its transformation journey, this role will be integral in helping to ensure that colleagues across Enterprise Technology understand the destination as well as progress made when it comes to delivering on priorities.
- Strategic engagement with key 3rd parties and vendors to ensure a strong partnership is established for the strategic benefit of the Bank.
- Acts as a motivator at all levels for our transformation.
- Actively manages progress reviews for strategic initiatives by developing relevant plans, objectives, and measures to drive the most value and outcomes.
- Steers transformation initiatives to optimise benefits and ensure appropriate business and geographical support.
- Identifies and solve problems along the progress of the transformation
- Tracks metrics associated with the ‘North Star’ definition of the Colleague Experience technology estate (in collaboration with Architecture).
- Support CIO with plans and develop workforce strategy to meet the organization’s current and future needs.
- An experienced technology transformation and change professional in banking or Financial Services (including agile frameworks and DevOps) with a track record of on point delivery and high impact outcomes.
- Strong technical knowledge of relevant technologies and DevOps ways of working.
- Proven industry experience of running a global transformation team including service definition, governance, solving challenges and blockers.
- Expertise in Strategy, Business Planning, Governance and Stakeholder Management.
- Knowledge of technology and technology trends, and the ability to provide technology consultancy to senior business heads.
- Established industry relationships with executive’s at large technology vendors.
- Knowledge of DevOps/Mode 2/Agile and project management frameworks and tooling
The role will be based in the London office but some travel may be required. This role supports Hybrid working.
