What is the role?

Our summer placements provide real hands-on experience through a 12-week placement within our Energy Optimisation team. We provide clients the visibility of their energy usage through our energy intelligence platform and with various energy management services, help them attain their carbon reduction and energy cost reduction targets. You will be working as part of the team on research, data analysis, energy reports and energy platform features improvement. Throughout the placement, you will have the support of a mentor who will offer guidance to enable you to reach your full potential.
Our summer placement students work collaboratively in a variety of contexts, while also taking ownership of their role by working under their own direction to drive action forward. There will also be networking and presentation opportunities, specialist sessions and support from our graduates.
What do I need?
We are seeking an individual with strong analytical skill, commercial awareness, who can work well within tight deadlines (12 weeks) to deliver projects. Ideally, you’ll already have, or be on track to achieve, a minimum 2:2 degree in engineering or similarly focussed subject. You should be entering your final year of study in Autumn 2023 or have already graduated.
You will:
- Be reliable, taking responsibility and ownership of work with minimal errors
- Have outstanding quantitative analysis skills
- Be flexible and adaptable with the ability to respond quickly and efficiently
- Be able to manage time and work independently and within a team
- Be experienced in delivery of research
- Be able to take the initiative in achieving objectives and meeting deadlines
In addition to the above, you will have a genuine interest in SSE and the prospect of a long-term future with us, as often candidates who join us on summer placements consider joining our Graduate Programmes after graduation.
