Are you an experienced Band 2 ready for the next steps in your career, or are you an HCA looking for an exciting opportunity? The Major Trauma Centre at St Mary’s Hospital is looking for empathetic, caring individuals look after patients in a 1:1 role.
Working in the trauma wards, you will be part of a dynamic team that specialises in the acute management of our patients within our speciality, supporting them following their traumatic and often life changing injuries. Our diverse group of patients includes those requiring acute management following major trauma who are particularly vulnerable.
Our work is achieved through an excellent and dynamic approach to patient care. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures exceptional clinical care to patients, including those with head injuries, psychiatric illnesses and dementia. These patient can feel very vulnerable and display behaviours which are challenging while in hospital and this role was created to assist them in orientating them to their surroundings and providing comfort and safety.

You will be required to spend the shift with an allocated patient who has been adentified by the nursing and medical staff as requiring supervision. This may be due to a traumatic brain injury or a mental health illness. The patients often require behaviour charts to be carried out tso that we can monitor their needs and progress. You will work closely with the Nursing Team and provide and accurrate handover as to the patients behaviour and feelings throughout the shift. You will maitain a safe environment for the patients and encourage them to eat, drink and engage in therpies.
