Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

This Engineering Technician Supervisor position is located in Topeka, Ks. The main purpose of this position is to assist the construction engineer in the management of the construction office by supervising the construction technical staff, serving as project manager on construction projects. The employee will also assign personnel to projects, along with ensuring that surveys, testing procedures, documentation and other inspections duties are properly carried out and completed.

NOTE: The employee in this position must also maintain Certified Inspection certifications under the KDOT CIT Program as outlined in the Engineering Technician Progression Manual for the specific job path and any additional as outlined by the Senior Manager.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Serves as project manager in charge of complex construction projects.
  • Prepares work schedules for technicians who will observe contractor operations for compliance with contract provisions and specifications.
  • Schedules and provides oversight on projects.
  • Responsible for project documentation for all phases of the work.
  • Supervises a group of technical staff.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in engineering technical support. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Organizational and supervisory skills for planning, organizing, and coordinating a large group of technicians.

Licensing & Certification:

  • Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment.
