Employer Description

We are passionate about potatoes. But we’re even more passionate about our People!

For over 60 years we’ve been the number one branded player in frozen potato market. When it comes to bringing the nation together at mealtimes with simple, delicious and great tasting food we’re kind of a big deal!

You won’t just find us in supermarkets though. As well as owning a household retail brand, our respected foodservice business works in close partnership with distributors, chefs and caterers across thousands of the country’s pubs, restaurants, hospitals and schools.

From our humble beginnings in the rural community of Florenceville, Canada, McCain Foods is now a global business! We have operations within six continents, with plant sites and offices across the world.

Main description

Come and #LearnAndEarn at one of the world’s best frozen food companies. Working alongside first-class engineers combining practical engineering experience with industry-recognised qualification.

We’re engineering careers. And we’re looking for people to come and help build the future of McCain.

If you’re an active problem solver who loves to see their projects come to life, a career in engineering could be for you!

We’re looking for the next generation of engineering talent who want practical experience in a fast-paced environment. You’ll work alongside our highly skilled maintenance engineers shadowing them and learning how we operate a smooth running operation.

  • Willing to learn new skills and adapt to change
  • Self-discipline in meeting stretching targets and deadlines
  • Logical approach to fault-finding
  • Conscientious
  • Enthusiasm to learn and to work with others
  • Punctual

Day release to a technical training centre will begin from Year one and as an apprentice, you will be expected to complete college-based elements in addition to hands-on core modular training.

You’ll work towards a multi-skilled NVQ and BTEC Level 3, alongside either the Mechatronics apprenticeship pathway. The scheme will also offer training in modules bespoke to McCain and the potato industry.
