Job description

The Faculty of Theology and Religion is seeking to appoint a Departmental Lecturer in Historical and Systematic Theology to cover primarily the teaching duties of Prof Zachhuber while he is on research leave. This is a full-time, 8-month fixed-term post from 1 September 2023.
About the role
This position offers a highly promising scholar the opportunity to develop their career through teaching, research and collaborative work in historical and systematic Theology and associated fields. You will play an active role in teaching the Faculty’s existing undergraduate and graduate courses, and provide tutorial teaching for Trinity College. You will become part of a vibrant research environment in both the Faculty and Trinity College. You will have access to a Faculty research allowance.
About you
You will hold, or be close to completion of, a postgraduate qualification (which would normally be a doctorate) in a relevant area of historical and systematic Theology, with evidence of an aptitude for teaching and some experience of teaching and research. The duties and skills required are described in more detail in the further particulars.
If, for any reason, you have taken a career break or have had an atypical career and wish to disclose this in your application, the selection committee will take this into account. The selection committee will also be mindful of the impact that the Covid-19 pandemic may have had on candidates’ careers as a result of additional caring responsibilities or other factors.
Application process
Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Professor Johannes Zachhuber on [email protected].
Applications are to be submitted online via www.recruit.ox.ac.uk and Vacancy ID 165068. You will be required to upload a CV and a supporting statement.
The closing date for applications is midday on 22 May 2023. Interviews are expected to take place on 15 June 2023.
