Degree Disciplines: You'll ideally have a minimum of a 2:2 BEng in one of the following degree disciplines: Civil, Control & Instrumentation, Electrical, Marine, Maths, Mechanical, Subsea Engineering.

Our Engineering System Planning Graduate Programme provides real hands-on experience through a rotation of placements in different projects and teams. Throughout the 2-year programme, you will have the support of our Graduate Programme Manager and a business mentor, who will provide guidance and support to enable you to reach your full potential.
Our graduates work collaboratively in a variety of contexts, while also taking ownership of their role by working under their own direction to drive action forward. A key principle of the graduate programme is continuous professional development and SSE has built a learning culture where value is placed on learnings that go beyond the immediate task. The programme will support your career development into a permanent role with SSE that reflects your experience and passion.
In this role you will:
- Work on the front line to help the UK reach Net-Zero targets by supporting the network analysis and development of our network.
- Learn to use modern power system modelling packages to undertake detailed technical assessment for new connections and propose most cost-effective and technically sound solutions.
- Be at the forefront of digitalisation of energy infrastructure; modernising and automating processes.

You’ll ideally have a minimum of a 2:2 BEng in one of the following degree disciplines: Civil, Control & Instrumentation, Electrical, Marine, Maths, Mechanical, Subsea Engineering.
For those interested to join our system planning and investment team, your degree program should include a course unit in power system analysis covering power flow, short circuit, or fault analysis, etc.
