We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Engineering Operative based in Binley, Coventry. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive hourly rate of £10.50 per hour depending on skills & experience. This will be reviewed after successful completion of the probationary period.

Wickman Coventry Ltd is an OEM Machine tool design and manufacturing company now in its 98th year. We produce a specialised range of Multi-Spindle CNC and Automatic Lathes from our factory based in Coventry that are distributed to customers globally.

Your responsibilities as our Engineering Operative will include:
- Assisting in stripping down machines using hand tools
- General site and building maintenance
- Assisting in all areas of the production process under supervision
- Moving heavy machinery and equipment with mechanical handling equipment (training will be given)
- Preparing machines/equipment for shipping
- Supporting of loading of machines into containers
- Manual handling tasks
- Warehouse/Stores holiday cover (training will be given)
- Collections and deliveries in company vehicles
What we’re looking for in our Engineering Operative:
- A positive attitude and a demonstrable willingness to learn
- Always have Health and Safety considerations for themselves and their work colleagues in mind
- Confident and can work using your own initiative both independently and as a team
- Able to work towards deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
- Some general DIY skills
- An interest/experience in mechanical engineering but not essential
- Great interpersonal and communication skills
- Physical stamina and manual dexterity
- The ability to lift and move weights up to 25 kilos
- It is essential that the applicant holds a clean full UK driving licence
- Experience in using an overhead crane (desirable but not essential)
- Fork lift truck driving licence (desirable but not essential)
