This is a very hand on role with at least 60-70% on the job requirement. To provide efficient and effective preventative maintenance and breakdown cover to both the Rushden and Sharnbrook sites looking after and maintaining machinery and ancillaries. To ensure machinery breakdowns and repairs are controlled in a timely manner and at minimum cost to production. To work off your own initiative and prioritise the workload for the maintenance team. It is essential to be able to communicate effectively and understand written and verbal communication.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES:
· To be committed to and champion a strong SHEQ culture on site. Safeguarding that staff are competent, adequately trained and supported to enable them to carry out their duties safely.
· Maintain a robust internal control environment in order to comply with local regulations to ISO 9001 & 14001 regulations
· Ensure that you and your team always work to safe working practices and current training standards.
· To monitor the work of contractors attending site from signing in and leaving site ensuring they always comply to the company Safe Working systems and any required RAM’s are in place prior to work commencing.
· To comply with the requirements of Health and Safety, Risk Management and any other relevant legislation and company policies.
· Ensure weekly fire alarm tests are carried out, recorded and you assist with the controlled evacuation procedure.
· Compile, plan and execute a complete TPM plan for both the Rushden and Sharnbrook sites using predominantly in house staff.
· Utilise and train both Engineers and Operatives for TPM requirements where appropriate.
· To plan and prioritise maintenance engineering duties as required on a daily basis.
· Track, analyse and improve key maintenance parameters such as asset utilisation, maintenance cost, PM compliance, mandatory schedule compliance including but not limited to LOLER, Pressure Vessels including steam, PUWER, Access platforms or any other items assigned by the senior Management.
· Record, monitor and analyse all breakdowns by implementing KPI’s for each area of the equipment and ensure the underlying root causes are actioned and improvements are implemented in the agreed timescale.
· Develop a continuous improvement philosophy within the maintenance team being a champion in implementing and sustaining lean principles such as TPM, 5S and Poke Yoke.
· To manage all plant maintenance personnel’s performance KPI’s and objectives and development along with close management of T&A issues, holidays and any breaches in discipline.
· To work hands on with the maintenance engineering team and where required fill in on shifts for holidays and assisting on TPM’s or breakdowns to ensure all Operations objectives and commercial commitments are met.
· Read gas, electric and water meters as required, and maintain appropriate records.
· To source 3 quotes for any external contracting work needed and justify selection of chosen provider.
· Communicate to the Operations Manager and other Departmental Leads all parts that need to be ordered.
Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
· Conduct employee performance reviews based on job descriptions to determine competency, knowledge, and contribution of the maintenance engineers.
· Monitor operations of plant equipment and systems and make observations.
To carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job, as required.
