About the opportunity:
The UK Nuclear area within Jacobs provide engineering design, construction, planning, support, survey, design-build, project management and/or program management for our Nuclear Industry clients. With more than fifty years of experience across the complete nuclear asset lifecycle, we support client delivery and the associated infrastructure requirements at every stage of a project.
As the ask for our services continues to grow, we are now looking to appoint a number of Engineering Managers to provide support for projects within the Site Redevelopment Programme (SRP) at Barrow-in-Furness. Barrow-in-Furness is home to one of the few shipyards in the world that builds nuclear submarines. The shipyard is currently creating Astute-class submarines (97m in length) and is moving into its next generation of submarines, through the production of Dreadnought-class (154m in length) submarine. To provide the desired capabilities to support the Dreadnought production, the site is undergoing redevelopment through the construction of new state of the art facilities and upgrading the existing facilities and buildings. There may be potential for a hybrid working arrangement, subject to discussion.
The Engineering Manager (EM) will have responsibility for all engineering aspects of a project. You will have engineering “ownership” of a project and directs the project to an optimised engineering solution, delivered in accordance with a tailored RIBA lifecycle process. You will likely be responsible for more than one project at a time depending upon the scale of that project.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Essential:
- Knowledge and understanding of processes involved in engineering management of complex multi-disciplinary projects, engineering planning and strategy; organisation and governance; personnel and professional matters
- Experience of engineering in procurement, construction, commissioning phases
- Experience of modern engineering management techniques within complex, multifunctional organisations
- Experience of modern programming software
- Good understanding of CDM Regulations.
