  • Good engineering fundamentals (such as the ability to visualise concepts) as well as specific technical skills such as CAD, MATLAB or CFD.
  • The ability to learn and develop skills on the job, as well as to apply existing skills to new types of problems.
  • Good communication and organisational skills to work effectively as part of a close-knit team, with shared responsibilities, working under challenging conditions.

  • Studying towards a degree in Engineering – in any subdiscipline (e.g. Aerospace, Automotive, Mechanical etc.) with a predicted grade of a 2:1 (or equivalent).
  • General computing skills and software knowledge appropriate to placement area. e.g. a prior knowledge of CAD packages is useful for a design placement.
  • A practical mindedness and a passion for motorsport.
  • Previous experience in motorsport is desirable, but not required.

If you were to be successful during the application process, the final stage of the process will be an assessment centre which will take place on Thursday 9th March 2023 at the McLaren Technology Centre.
