An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated undergraduate or Masters student Engineer to join the Operations and Maintenance team at our Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm based in Lowestoft, Suffolk, UK for a 12 month industrial placement. In this role you would be working as part of a team that operate and maintain the Greater Gabbard Offshore Wind Farm consisting of 140x Siemens 3.6MW wind turbines.
In this role you will be contributing towards the development and delivery of the engineering and maintenance strategy for the Wind Farm, all aimed at ensuring the operation, engineering health, integrity and performance of the asset, in a safe, efficient and sustainable manner, maximising the commercial benefit within legal requirements.
Main Responsibilities:
- Contributes towards the development and implementation of engineering and maintenance strategies, policies and procedures to achieve measured site performance as defined in the business plan
- Managing plant area budgets as nominated
- Management of key site contracts and contracted staff
- Supports the initiatives to improve the management of site safety, contributing to the achievement of the company safety objectives through offshore inspections
- Liaison with key internal and external stakeholders on relevant issues
- Support management of project work, ensuring work completed to programme, budget and quality
- Own designated plant faults for RCA, modification and rectification works
- Support delivery of the maintenance strategy, asset integrity and maintenance activities of their plant areas
- Management and upkeep of the site’s central risk register
Skills required:
- Recently achieved or working towards a suitable engineering Batchelor or Master’s degree
- A clear motivation for developing within the offshore wind industry
- An understanding of health and safety and environmental legislation and standards
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop effective working relationships across the business and the wider Renewables industry
- Ability to communicate technical topics to a variety of audiences
- Apply sound engineering theory to categorise various asset risks
Development in role:
- Technical project management experience
- Asset Management through compliance with Asset & Regulatory Governance
- HSE Management
- Contract management experience
- Professional registration with the Engineering Council
The location for this role is based at Lowestoft and we are ideally looking for the internship to start September 2023.
