The Engineering Intern will support the Sheffield Engineering team, working on a variety of roles from design work
through to product testing.
In dicative Responsibilities Include:
> Supporting quality team, with article inspection and drawing amendments.
> Support drawing backlog.
> Writing documentation to support product development. E.g. scoping documents, testing procedures and
trial reports.
> New product design and evaluation, taking in feedback from the field service team and customers.
> Designing for manufacture and product improvements.
> Supporting new product testing – designing, building and, carrying out testing in the laboratory and in field
testing.
> Support on-track trials and factory testing.
Skills & Experience Required:
> Be undertaking an Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar scientific/engineering
discipline.
> Have the ability to self-motivate and organise and manage own activities and projects.
> Be capable of working safely in an operational environment to undertake field and laboratory measurements
and equipment installation work.
> Have good communication skills to relay ideas and results to colleagues and customers, including report
writing in clear and concise English, and presentation skills.
Othe r useful skills:
> Capable of using engineering design software including 3D Modelling packages (e.g. SolidWorks), with skills
and aptitude in using/learning to use engineering simulation software (such as Finite Element Analysis)
potentially advantageous.
> Have an open mind to problem solving and a willingness to develop skills and understanding in wheel / rail
interaction (vehicle dynamics), tribology, production engineering and manufacturing.
> Able to travel within the UK and potentially within Europe for visiting customers and supporting field trials.
Including possibly working unsociable hours.
