Main Purpose
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join a premier team of Housekeepers at the 423 Force
Support Squadron, Royal Air Force Alconbury, United Kingdom.
This position provides engineering technical support for the Operations Flight, including, but not limited to, the Sustainment program, the Corrosion Control Program, the Preventative Maintenance Program, design drafting services and design review of
all projects to ensure compliance with installation comprehensive plans and programs. The incumbent has overall responsibility
for all aspects of the development, preparation, monitoring and maintenance of plans and programs for contractor-provided
construction and repair projects, major project design reviews. The incumbent would be responsible for in depth reviews of on-
going plans and operations and is responsible for recommending changes and adjustments as required. You will determine if
funding and/or scheduling conflict exist, as well as resolving complex and difficult engineering problems. The incumbent is
responsible to provide their team with regular feedback on strengths and weaknesses, encouraging self-development, and holds
employees responsible for work assignments, and initiate’s action to correct performance or conduct problems. You will plan
work to be accomplished by subordinates based on organization priorities and consideration of difficulty and requirements.

Knowledge and Experience Required
Applicants must demonstrate the following:
1. General and practical knowledge of a wide range of engineering concepts, methods, principles, practices, and techniques; familiarity with engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, structural, utilities, etc.). Incumbent must possess seasoned judgment, resourcefulness, and ingenuity in engineering, construction, and personnel management.
2. Knowledge of program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control, and budget systems; work classifications and the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds; automated data processing system capabilities and economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions.
3. Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.
4. Knowledge of analytical and diagnostic methods, procedures, and principles and surveying methods, equipment, and techniques of measurements to identify project requirements.
5. Ability to plan and record site/facility surveys and inspections.
6. Ability to research, analyze, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions.

- Hours of work: Start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with organization’s flexible working policies.
- Will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules, and regulations.
- Must obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- May be assigned other duties that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the employee.
- May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training. Position may be coded as mission essential.
- A 6-month probationary period will be required.
- Overtime may be required.
- May be required to travel overnight to US or other countries in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training.
Other significant facts pertaining to this position are:
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. Minimum Cat B licence required.
- The position requires the knowledge of numerous regulations and codes of work. From time to time, there are various courses that must be attended to keep up to date with new practices, materials, and safety legislation.
- The position requires the use of a hand-held two-way radio or alternative method of on-site communication.
- May be required to wear personnel protective equipment when performing on-site inspections.
- Applicant must have specialized experience in technical work related to position, or education above high school (e.g., City and Guilds, NVQ or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline), together with a minimum of three year’s work experience in the trade. Additionally, knowledge of other technical engineering disciplines outside of the primary qualification is desirable. A bachelor’s degree is not required.
