Job description

Responsible and accountable for managing the day-to-day activities of all services and staff within the areas of engineering, maintenance, and life safety to include collaboration with patients, employees, physicians, visitors and community. Develops and administers programs to maintain buildings, grounds and equipment in accordance with regulations and administrative guidelines, maintains buildings in livable, safe and workable conditions relative to heat, light, power, air conditioning, life safety and other broad environmental factors Focuses on the repair, construction and reconstruction of the organization’s physical plant, its satellite facilities and their MEP and Building Systems and administering a preventative maintenance program to ensure uninterrupted service to patients and to assure safe conditions of employment for staff members. Utilizes effective strategies in developing, supervising, and evaluating work processes, resource consumption and outcomes. Plays a major role in the development of personnel, compliance with regulatory and professional standards and the fostering of interdisciplinary collaborative relationships within the area(s) of engineering and maintenance, project management and the institution as a whole. This role serves as a shared resource across the service areas working cross-departmentally with BioMed, Security, Project Management, Emergency Management and Support Services

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in or more of the following disciplines: mechanical, electrical, or structural OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Identified plan for educational advancement desirable.

Minimum Work Experience

  • 3 - 5 years of leadership experience in facility engineering/plant operations (HVAC, electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing and construction).
  • Hospital experience strongly preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications

  • Life Safety – Healthcare certification or ability to obtain in a determined timeframe.
  • Licensure in one trade preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to read technical documents, understand and read blueprints and CAD drawings.
  • Ability to work hands-on as needed in all the components associated with building maintenance operations.
  • Strong Microsoft Windows desktop application and navigation skills.

Location: Rutland Regional Medical Center · Engineering & Maintenance
Schedule: full-time, day shift, 7am - 3:30pm
