MSC Engineering Manager
Patriot Contract Services, LLC is a leading maritime contractor to the U.S. Government providing ship management services to MARAD, the Military Sealift Command (MSC), and commercial vessels. (www.patriotships.com) We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager to join the team. This will be a full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits. Headquarters are located in Concord, CA but remote work is an option.
Responsibilities:
- Performs as the Customer’s main point of contact for vessel management and technical issues
- Manage daily operations of the Fleet, ensuring that the vessels are being operated in a safe and cost-effective manner while meeting all program contractual requirements
- Performs overhaul specification development and award evaluations
- Responsible for daily performance of all assigned fleet Port Engineers
- Ensures Safety and Quality Management policies and procedures are followed on all assigned vessels and within all levels of the applicable program organization
- Develops budgets and business plans to accommodate regulatory requirements, mission readiness, and life cycle planning
- Ensures that fleet purchasing activities are in accordance with approved procedures and that all contracts are in accordance with company and US Government ethical and business standards
- Assists on or undertakes on behalf of the Program Manager specific special projects including development and implementation of new government and commercial business
- Member of the Incident Response Team for any vessel casualty occurring in their assigned fleet
- Member of the Human Resources Committee, which is responsible for Senior Officer assignments
- Reviews and responds within 10 business days to SQMS/contract specific reports as required
- Makes the necessary arrangements for the USCG-COI and Class Surveyors to conduct the respective Marine Inspections/Surveys on the PCS/ASM vessels accordingly.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess a minimum of five years’ (5) experience as a Port Engineer having managed and negotiated at least five shipyard availabilities for ocean going ships with award value greater than three million dollars
- OR a minimum of six years' (6) experience serving aboard commercial ocean-going ships as either a Chief Engineer or a First Assistant Engineer.
- OR Possess 12 years’ total experience comprised of one or more of the following (5 years of the combined experience must include work that requires the Engineering Manager to possess a state license as a Professional Engineer):
- An Engineering related degree (e.g., Marine Engineer, Marine Architecture, Mechanical Engineering)
- Experience gained while employed by a shipyard in a technical management position
- Serving active duty in the military performing duties substantially the same as a Port Engineer
- U.S. citizen, eligible for DOD security clearance at SECRET level
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written
- Competent in Microsoft Office 365 suite, with emphasis on Microsoft Excel
- Solid organizational skills and adaptability to ever-changing environments
- Up to 25% travel required
Desirable Qualifications:
- USCG Chief Engineer, Unlimited Horsepower
- Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations.
- Commercial ship management experience
