Job Overview:
Overair is looking for a Staff Test and Evaluation engineer to aid in vehicle and system integration testing. Qualified candidates will be responsible for test planning, developing systems integration test methodologies, and participating in hands on test activities. You will be working with all the vehicle systems and ground control station, while sheparding the integration test activities from part to system to vehicle testing. As such, you will be working closely with software engineering, powerplant, battery, and electrical engineering groups.
This role requires the candidate to thrive in a high paced environment and be comfortable with the design, development, and test life cycle of rapid aerospace R&D. In order to be successful in this role, you should be capable of completing collaborative projects with minimal oversight, and be able to efficiently develop a deep understanding of the vehicle architecture by means of understanding application code and control law algorithms, wiring diagrams, and instrumentation functionality. This role will include interfacing with the Chief Engineer, Program Management, and System leads, so strong communication and inter-personal skills are required.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Work closely with a cross functional team to develop test requirements and test plans
- Assist technician in test setups, execution of tests on test equipment (Dynes, Chambers, shakers, test benches, etc), and equipment maintenance.
- Perform functional testing and failure modes testing on aircraft hardware and systems to validate their design against their requirements
- Participate in vehicle level assembly, integration, and configuration management.
- Perform on-aircraft systems testing of hardware and software to substantiate flightworthiness
- Participate in failure and Root Cause Analysis of sub-systems and components used in powertrain, vehicle management and electromechanical systems.
- Develop LabView/Python/MATLAB scripts for test automation, in-situ data collection, and data analysis.
- Prepare and present material in support of test readiness reviews, data reviews, and corrective action plans
- Develop and contribute to test processes and procedures to continue enhancing Overair's test and safety culture
- Mentor junior engineers of the best practices involved in working with R&D aircraft
- Provide input to program management schedules
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent real-world experience
- 6+ years of systems and/or flight test experience including experience in Test Directing a test crew or Sr. Test engineer positions
- Demonstrated extensive understanding of engineering fundamentals in the test environment
- Proficiency in understanding complex systems under test by distilling issues to fundamentals, and obtaining information from documents, resources, and personnel
- Extensive understanding of systems and flight test procedures, safety, and culture
- Experience with High Voltage systems
- Experience with integrated system communication protocols (CAN, Ethernet, RS485 etc.)
- Working knowledge of JIRA, bitbucket, and Git
- Extensive proficiency in MATLAB and/or Python scripting
- Experience writing test plans and reports for verification activities showing traceability to requirements in an R&D environment
- Demonstrated mentorship of junior engineers
Desired Qualifications:
- M.S. in relevant discipline
- Demonstrated experience in testing R&D Fly-by-wire (FBW) aircraft both piloted and UAV/UAS
- Mechanical/electrical design of test fixtures, harnesses, jigs, and any other required test equipment
- Experience in EVTOL testing through the design and development cycle
- Proficiency with CAD software (Solidworks, CATIA)
- Experience operating/testing of Remotely Piloted Aircraft
- Current Private Pilot Airplane or Rotorcraft or higher certificate
- Experience working with flight test organizations and aircraft certification
- Familiarity with aero elastics, structural dynamics, and rotor dynamics
- Extensive experience leading a team of test personnel

Overair expects to pay: $140,000-$185,000 per year. Your level and the compensation package offered will be determined by location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
