Senior Engineer (Street Lighting)

Employer: Regeneration, Culture and Environment (FLS)
Salary: Range 6 (£39,632 - £45,420) per annum, plus a skill shortage payment of £5,000 per annum (to be reviewed annually). You will also receive essential car user allowance up to £1,239 per annum.
Location: Hybrid – Works part in the office (Gun Wharf) and part from home
Contract: Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Senior Street Lighting Engineer to join Medway Council’s Highway’s department to help manage, maintain the Councils Street lighting team. The successful candidate, directed by the Principal Engineer (Network management) will lead a small team in overseeing the day-to-day management of the streetlights within the network.

The role involves project management, delivering work programmes, preparing project reports, analysing data, developing and appraising projects, monitoring the performance of schemes to ensure services are provided at the highest level, and engagement with stakeholders. You will also coordinate and supervise the day-to-day work of engineering and technical staff within your area of expertise to enable the management and continual improvement of the team. The post holder will also maintain and further develop the working partnerships between the service and internal / external partners.

Working as part of the wider Highway Service you will have opportunity to be involved in and contribute to a wide range of projects and workstreams.

About You

You will have a wealth of demonstrable experience commensurate with the role of Senior Engineer. The successful candidate should have suitable experience within a the street Lighting environment along with the ability to communicate technical and emotive topics to a wide range of audiences, at all levels.

The post holder should be educated to or working towards a Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

This role is a flexible hybrid working style, with the option to work at a fixed Council premises or a combination of Council premises and home working.

A laptop and mobile phone would be supplied as part of the role. This post includes an essential car user allowance, plus mileage paid at a per mile rate. You will benefit from a minimum of 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) increasing to 30 days leave after five years’ service.
