The Role
To learn skills and gain experience towards becoming a Maintenance Engineer. Working with the maintenance engineering team to establish and maintain safe, compliant, and effective engineering operations that continually develop the site’s asset base by following the engineering strategy for proactive work whilst responding to breakdowns
On Offer:
- £10.94 raising to £17.21 in year 4
- 40 hours per week between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday (first 2 years then going onto 24/7 shift pattern year 3 & 4
- 4 year apprenticeship - with the opportunity for a permanent Maintenance Technician position if successfully completed the apprenticeship

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure completion of relevant qualification of level 3 NVQ and attend college a week (Darlington)
- Work with the maintenance team to Perform planned and predictive maintenance of equipment and complete ad hoc repairs in a timely manner and by prioritising works in line with site priorities to ensure that efficient production is maintained
- Work with the maintenance team to assess the need for spares by ensuring that the critical spares and spares list is up to date and stock is at the required levels. Escalate any issues in a timely manner to the Engineering manager
- Work with the maintenance team to ensuring a safe environment by conducting all servicing and maintenance activities with minimal risk to employees, products and equipment. Champion safety
- Work with the maintenance team to start using route cause analysis on breakdowns to identify actions and drive completion of actions to prevent re-occurrence
- Work with the maintenance team to support the energy reduction and sustainability agenda to reduce environmental impacts across the site by ensuring all actions are completed
- Participate in daily and weekly review sessions to drive the improvement throughout the site
- Undertake training and engaging with other members of the maintenance team to wider knowledge in all areas of maintenance
Skills, Experience and Qualifications :
- Engineering appreciation
- Willingness to learn
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Has own or reliable transport to Factory site in Thirsk, due to no public transport location
