Job description
Aim of the role:
The aim of the role is to conduct time studies of the fitting of furniture at Hammonds establishing clear times for the fitting of the furniture. This data would be used in the fit planning systems at Hammonds to optimise it’s fitting resources. The role also is to also identify areas in which the fitting time can be reduced. These changes must fit within the current processes as major changes to the process are not available at this point.
It is assumed that there would be a transfer of work from the fitting of the furniture into manufacturing utilising the lower Labour costs within Manufacturing.
Design changes would be reviewed as part of the process if any are identified.
Responsibilities:
- Directs time and motion studies to identify opportunities to improve overall efficiency and cost savings relative to fitting.
- Analyse fitting data to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for process changes
- Collaborate with production teams to implement process improvements and ensure compliance with established standards
- Train production staff on new processes and procedures and provide ongoing support
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of time studies and process improvements
- Participate in cross-functional teams to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in time study techniques and technologies
- Conducts or leads in the observation and analysis of work procedures to determine the time and motion requirements of each position or assignment.
- Analyses data and specifications to establish reasonable time and production standards.
- Uses mathematical analysis to identify objective measurements of alternate work patterns.
- Applies industrial management techniques and principles to develop cost and time-saving recommendations and modifications to work methods, staffing requirements, wage rates, and equipment and facilities upgrades.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or related field required.
- At least two years of experience in a manufacturing environment required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing
- Must be able to travel to and traverse other facilities/Customer homes.
- This is a 6 month fixed term contract
