About the Role
We are looking for an experienced React Developer to lead the frontend engineering of both our semantic search engine and our flagship Named Entity Recognition (NER) service, TERMite7. This role is a hands-on coding role reporting into the Head of Engineering. You will take ownership over both frontend systems. There will be collaboration with developers on the shared components library, with the UX function on design and with the backend java developers who produce the REST APIs you’ll consume. Primarily this is a remote role with our lean team distributed throughout Europe, with a local hub located on our main campus outside Cambridge
Responsibilities
  • Owning the development of user interfaces for both the Search and NER platforms
  • Writing extensible, maintainable, secure and well-tested code
  • Establishing best practice and guidelines for developing UI components across teams and products
  • Applying UX principles to develop user focused, intuitive front-end experience which goes across products
  • Assisting product managers, backend engineers and UX in the architecting and building of new features
  • Designing and building unit-tested, modular code, deploying and running it on local and cloud infrastructure
Requirements
  • Experience of software development delivery across multiple software projects
  • Possess expertise in designing, architecting and building UIs using React, TypeScript, SCSS
  • Demonstrate confidence working in a dynamic agile environment with backend teams, business stakeholders, and UX designers
  • Show understanding of the importance of vulnerability management with excellent communication skills
  • Experience with modern authentication flows, such as OAuth 2.0 and ideally Keycloak APIs
  • Possess confidence with common practices in CI/CD (Jenkins), source control (GitHub)
  • Show high-level understanding of Containerization (with AWS as an added bonus)
  • Maintain a ‘can-do’ attitude working across flexible and cross-functional teams in software and data science
