Pay
This position is an hourly position at pay grade 110.
Attendance
Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Gas Engineering Design Division with research, drafting, design, typing, estimated quantities, calculations, review, exhibits, proposals, surveying, filing, archiving and deliveries
- Develop drawings by performing manual and computer drafting from field notes
- Coordinate with field personnel during construction projects
- Plot elevations and calculates quantities and distances
- Research engineering, architectural, mechanical and surveying records; including City, State and County legal descriptions, land history utilities, easements and maps
- Provide information by answering questions from field personnel, City staff, engineering consultants and the public relating to line locations, platting, utility easement and right of way as well as existing gas infrastructures
- Perform field and site investigations to determine requirements applicable to alley, street and easement abandonment
- Verify legal descriptions by checking recorded plats
- Review metes and bounds for accuracy
- Review constructions plans for compliance with City, State and federal standards before issuing bids
- Prepare construction plans and specifications after records have been researched and design information has been compiled
- Assist with basic surveying operations by providing alignments of pipelines to avoid conflicts with other utilities
- Determine location of existing gas lines and stake locations for project construction including leveling, traversing and computations
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge and skills by keeping required license and certifications current
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Requires an Associate’s degree
- Requires two (2) years of experience
- Must have working knowledge of CADD software and GIS software
- A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered
- A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating
Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
