About the role:

. • Supporting the Design & Engineering team (either within a Sublot or Discipline) to deliver a fully integrated and coordinated design ready for construction to meet project requirements.

  • Coordination with temporary works and methods engineers to ensure that the designs take full account of the construction methodology, sequence and temporary works.
  • Coordinating multi-disciplinary input to the design for the necessary expertise, including input from other BBV teams (internal), HS2 and external stakeholders.
  • Checking to ensure the design meets the HS2 Environmental Minimum Requirements, including all requirements for environmental mitigation.
  • Supporting in the presentation of the designs to external stakeholders and demonstrating that the design embeds the principles of the HS2 design vision.
  • Checking that the designs are fully compliant with the Works Information, Contract Requirements Technical (CRT) and Technical Standards.
  • A role in technical assurance to check the designs are in accordance with the BBV Project Execution Plan, Design Management Plan and Technical Assurance processes.
  • Support to ensure that the design meets the requirements of the Technical Approval Authority and external approval bodies such as Highways Authorities, Network Rail, Statutory Undertakers.
  • Support in preparation of Design Briefs are prepared with necessary input from other teams (such as construction, temporary works, consents, utilities) prior to design work commencing.
  • Support in raising Technical Queries in a timely manner and seek early resolution to avoid impact on the design programme.
  • Support in maintaining an up to date design assumption log and close out prior to final technical assurance stages.
  • Support in maintain an up to date design risk register and close out prior to final technical assurance stages.
  • Ensure work is undertaken in accordance with the BIM Execution Plan, ensuring that design information conforms to the necessary standards and can be shared for use in 4D and 5D planning and cost estimation.
  • Support in preparation of Design Interface Control Documents.
  • Identifying risks and support in undertaking risk mitigation actions, as agreed at Risk Reduction meetings.
  • Identifying design change and providing support for preparation of Compensation Events (cost and programme impacts).

What you'll need to have:

  • Degree Qualified Civil Engineer or similar equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly organised with good time management skills
  • BBV behaviours, respecting equality and diversity
  • Effective team working skills
  • Ability to work independently, in some instances without the need for close supervision
  • Disciplined in self checking own work and checking work of others (within area of competence)
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations and Designer duties
  • Commitment to continual improvement (to enhance organisational performance) and self-learning (CPD)
  • Good digital skills
