Engagement Officer- Access to Education

Job introduction

We have a vacancy for an Engagement Officer to work within the Access to Education team.

The team works with families, pupils and schools to ensure children with medical needs too ill to attend school are able to access education and re-engage with their education.

The role also includes working with home educating families in the city to ensure they are receiving a suitable education.

About the role

The Access to Education Team works with schools and families across Brighton & Hove to make sure that all children are able to have a good education. This exciting role involves working closely with all the schools in the city and with other professionals to help children to ill to go to school get an education and re-integrate back into their school. It also includes linking u with the home educating families to advise and support them to ensure their children are receiving a suitable education at home, and help with getting back to school where that is appropriate. The team is dedicated, knowledgeable and welcoming, as well as good at working together for to help some of the most vulnerable children in our city.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.

Work Permits: We may be able to obtain a Work Permit for this post but this is subject to meeting the requirements of the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) Points-based Immigration System. Please see Gov.uk for more information on the Skilled Worker Visa.

Part office / part home – hybrid - We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining.

Working arrangements are subject to Government guidance at the time. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
