About the role

As our Senior High Value Engagement Manager, you'll lead a team of two managers and one executive to deliver inspiring engagement offerings – including communications, innovative digital experiences and standout programme visits – for our high value partners (including businesses, individuals, trusts and foundations). You will work closely with our partner relationship managers to understand partners' interests, motivations and goals, and provide communications and experiences that connect them to the impact of our work with and for children.

You'll have a crucial part in growing strategic partnerships and securing large donations that help children around the world, including in the UK, to grow up safe, healthy and learning. You will lead on the highest priority proposals and projects, using your creative flair to bring Save the Children's work to life and amplify children's voices. Proactive in sharing your significant knowledge and expertise, your ideas will also help your team and others to develop exceptional experiences and journeys for partners.

What will an average day look like?

Every day is different in our team, but here are some of the things you can expect to do in this role:

  • Work in a fast-moving environment of agile, multi-disciplinary teams. Working in such an environment requires you to be flexible and adaptable. Plans and priorities may change frequently, and you will need to be willing to adjust your approach, reprioritise tasks and accommodate new requirements or information. You will also need to embrace a mindset of continuous learning and improvement to keep up with the fast-paced nature of the work
  • Lead your team to (as well as personally deliver) inspiring, relevant communications and experiences for partners, to support the organisation's strategic goals – for instance, raising flexible funds
  • Lead the team to produce digital products, such as ‘scrolling story' webpages and bespoke films, and to create new products and experiences for partner – working closely with other creative teams
  • Lead your team to manage high-risk / strategic international programme visits and support other teams to manage visits
  • Use your knowledge and expertise to help Partnerships & Philanthropy develop strong partner journeys, to build relationships that last
  • Support others in P&P to create standout stories – for instance, leading by example, coaching others and offering training in writing, design and authentic storytelling
  • Focus on the wellbeing and professional development of your team, providing support, guidance and coaching
  • Drive continuous evaluation of the team's outputs and impact, sourcing feedback from other teams, and evolve ways of working to respond to changing needs and priorities.

About you – to be successful, it is important that you have:

  • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate, inspiring and relevant content to influence an outcome – minimum three to five years' professional experience as a writer, with strong editing skills
  • Experience of packaging complex technical information for presentation to a lay audience
  • Excellent verbal communications skills – confident presenting to a range of audiences, including senior stakeholders
  • Experience of managing and developing a team, including recruitment, management, continuous support, career development and performance management of staff
  • Problem solving skills, with experience of seeking creative ways to overcome complex problems, responding to changing priorities and demands
  • It would be a bonus if you also have experience of communicating information to philanthropic or corporate donors, writing proposals or reports.

Ways of Working:

Remote First – The majority of our roles can be performed remotely, however you may work from the office as often as you wish. Whilst you will be predominantly working from home, we may at times require you to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter). Note: This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team. This is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.


On-site – There are certain roles that cannot be performed remotely and so your role will be based in an office location and you may occasionally be able to work from home.
